Homemade Ferrero Rochers™

Homemade Ferrero Rochers™

Today I tried to make homemade Ferrero Rochers™.  I didn’t try them myself, as I’m still on a diet (successfully 🙂 ), but my kids loooooove them and DH said they tasted alike.  Well, that’s not so hard, as I made them with Nutella™ 😉 .  So I’ll share with you how I made them.  You’ll need:

  • 1 jar of Nutella™ (400 gr)
  • 100 gr peeled and roasted hazelnuts
  • 100 gr hazelnut-chocolate cookies
  • 250 gr good quality dark chocolate

Put the hazelnuts in a plastic bag and beat them with a wooden hammer or rolling-pin to small pieces.  Put the Nutella™ in a bowl, add the chopped hazelnuts and mix with a fork.  Cover with plastic wrap and put the mixture in the freezer for at least 1 hour.

In the meantime, put the cookies in the plastic bag and beat them to crumbs (not too hard, you don’t want powder!) and put the crumbs in a bowl.

When the Nutella-nut mixture is hard, make small balls with a mini-scooper.  Roll the balls in the cookie-crumble and put them on a baking sheet.  Put the balls back in the freezer for about 15 minutes.

Melt the chocolate and bring it to the right temperature and consistency.  Take a few balls out of the freezer (leave the rest in the freezer, as they get soft quickly!) and dip them in the chocolate.  Put back on the baking sheet.  Continue until all balls are covered with chocolate.  Put in the fridge until hardened.  Put them in cute mini-cupcake liners.  Enjoy!
