After the fingerless mittens from the Secret Santa Swap and a mini-laptop-sleeve for my sister, this is the 3rd “own design” knitwork 🙂 . OK, no sweaters or really difficult things, but never the less I’m proud of myself because I’ve proven myself that I can be really “create-ive” instead of only being able to knit existing patterns. This is a mug cosy. It can be used for decoration and/or for not burning your hands on a hot cup of tea/coffee 😉 . I knitted “braids” in it by using twisted stitches.
Needle size: 4,5mm (US 7)
Yarn used: 100% Bluefaced Leicester, but you can use any yarn that fits the needlesize. Gauge is not important.
Stitch guide:
- ktbl = knit through back loop
- ptbl = purl through back loop
Pattern:
CO 19 stitches.
Row 1, 3 and 5: *k1, p1* repeat to last stitch, k1
Row 2 and 6: *p1, k1* repeat to last stitch, p1
Row 4: *p1, k1* repeat 2 more times, p1, buttonhole over 5 stitches, *p1, k1* repeat 2 more times, k1
Row 7: start with braid pattern
Braid pattern:
Row 1: k1, *p1, k 2nd stitch on left needle (leaving stitch on left needle), ptbl 1st stitch on left needle, then remove both stitches from the left needle, k1* repeat to 2 last stitches, p1, k1
2 and 4: p1, *k1, p3* repeat to last 2 stitches, k1, p1
Row 3: k1, *p1, k1, ktbl 2nd stitch on left needle (leaving stitch on left needle), p 1st stitch on left needle, then remove both stitches from the left needle, * repeat to 2 last stitches, p1, k1
Repeat braid pattern to desired lenght – 2,5 cm (1 inch).
Knit 6 rows in rib pattern:
Row 1, 3 and 5: *k1, p1* repeat to last stitch, k1
Row 2, 4 and 6: *p1, k1* repeat to last stitch, p1
Bind off and weave in all ends.
Sew a button in the center of the last rib section.
Naald: 4,5mm (US 7)
Gebruikte wol: 100% Bluefaced Leicester, maar je kan eender welke wol gebruiken die met de naald overeenkomt. Proeflapje hoeft niet, het komt niet zo nauw 😉 .
Patroon:
Zet 19 steken op.

Rij 2 en 6: *1av, 1r* herhaal tot laatste st, 1av
